This is a meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words and it’s a lovely was to showcase my reading progress weekly – this week my theme seems to be blue covers:

Recently finished: The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman, the first book in the series His Dark Materials. Last Wednesday I featured this book as what my plan for future readings, but I couldn’t wait to finish another book before starting so I just did – and I am so glad I did because it was magnificent! I am not going to talk about it because I plan to finish the entire series and dedicate an entire blog post to it, but until I do that READ IT! IT IS GLORIOUS – great characters, awesome concepts, amazing adventures!

Currently reading: I am still reading The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien and I am loving it – unfortunately, since it is a physical copy and not my own book (my book is still in a box), I can only read it when I am at home – I do not want to damage the book in my backpack during my commute daily. At the same time, I am also reading a lot of books that I received for review and one of them is Here Comes Hercules! by Stella Tarakson, a lovely children’s book with Greek heroes – so far it is lovely and I plan to finish it pretty soon. But my main read (besides LOTR) is A Scandal in Scandinavia by Kelly Maher, but it doesn’t have a cover yet so…

Reading next: Candide by Voltaire. I first started this book in 2016, got it from the library but I didn’t felt like reading it. Then I started it again in 2017 and I think I am 75% done with it but went on a looooooooong break. So I plan to get back to it and finish it!

I know I repeat my books a lot during these posts – but I don’t really read that much in a week, yet I will keep doing these updates cause they motivate me to read more and it is a nice way to track my reading – so please excuse the fact that I repeat the covers and books so much. Maybe I should look for different editions covers…

What about you? Read anything lately? What do you plan to read next?
